Roadmap to a First Draft: Find Your Novel’s Plot

  • So you’ve started writing your novel—what comes next? This course is designed for novelists working on their first draft who need structure, support, and a roadmap to write towards the end. Over three hours, we’ll review key elements of plot structure, create outlines for well-known novels, and tackle generative exercises to help you organize your story, uncover gaps, and find your perfect endings.

Leave with a clearer understanding of plot, strategies to give your novel vision and structure, and a working outline to take you from beginning to end.

Perfect for writers tackling their first novel, organizing a long-form project, or are stuck in their first draft.

    What to expect:

    • Generative Writing: students create new work during class or from assignments.

    • Craft Discussion: teachers and students explore essential elements of the craft.

    • No feedback given

    • Optional writing or reading outside of class

  • One, three-hour sessions, Saturday January 25th at 1:10 pm PT/4:10 pm ET

  • Cost: $114. More info and registration here.

    Students say…

“I thought Grace was very kind and intelligent, she is a great listener and I really appreciated how organized her class was. She sent out notes from start to finish and it was very impressive and not something you see everyday in an online course.”

“Grace is really awesome, I would definitely take another class from her. Great presence.”
