The Write Time Workshop

  • A combination writing workshop and guest lecture co-hosted by Matt Jones.

  • This workshop encourages participants to share their writing and discuss ways to improve their own, as well as participants’ work. Each workshop starts out with a writing exercise or guest speaker who shares writing advice –– be it on craft, process or the business of writing for no more than thirty minutes. By emphasizing open exchange and exploration, the workshop inspires attendees to develop their own writing practice.

  • Participants are encouraged to submit their work and read other submissions beforehand in the shared Google Drive folders.

  • Workshop Community
As the goal of the workshop is to encourage artistic exploration and a love of writing, the environment is welcoming, supportive, and consistently respectful. During participants’ critiques, the focus will be on the work’s positive elements and potential, as well as avenues for improvement. At no point will anyone be discouraged from writing or pursuing a specific creative style.

  • Monthly on Zoom: The first Sunday from 12 pm – 2 pm ET.

  • Cost: Sliding scale, use Venmo or donate button to pay for a session.

“The Write Time has helped me grow and flourish as a writer, and I know I'm not alone in this feeling! It's a place where I feel safe to take creative risks and share first drafts. The support from Grace and Matt but also from the other writers gives me that extra boost to overcome writer's block and continue believing in my craft.” — Ella Bartlett, poet & translator
