A Writing Workshop You’re Excited For: The Write Time Ten Weeks
“I always looked forward to Tuesdays.”
You’re sitting at your desk. The clock is ticking. This is your time to write. But nothing is coming out. Doubt battles your creativity. What am I doing? This is a waste of time. I’ll never finish this project. You wonder, Is this even good writing?
A secret about writing: no one writes alone. No one can put those questions at bay and convince themselves of their own greatness. For centuries, writers have turned to each other to improve their work.
So you find a writer’s workshop. And now you’re there waiting for feedback.Your stomach hurts, and you’re hoping Zoom isn’t picking up your sweat. These strangers are about to tell you everything that’s wrong with your writing. And by association…you.
But wait, it doesn’t have to be that way either. A writer’s group can be encouraging, welcoming, supportive, and deeply helpful as you learn how to edit your work. We don’t learn when we’re being attacked – we learn when we’re being encouraged.
And that’s our ethos at The Write Time.
“I found the camaraderie combined with the expert, intuitive and sensitive comments by Grace encouraged me to write and to read with a keen eye. I learned a lot as a reader and as a person. Thank you.” – Feedback from Spring 2024 workshop

“With intentionality and compassion, Grace curated a welcoming and safe space for me to not only rediscover myself as a writer, but she, along with the group, supported me as I revived my writing practice and encourage my inner editor.” – Feedback from Spring 2024 workshop
Style of Feedback
The group will practice giving and receiving feedback in the style of Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process. This framework emphasizes making observations and asking questions about the author’s intent, rather than projecting our opinions and assumptions onto their work.
My facilitating is based on years of leading writing workshops, my mindfulness meditation training, and the work of Matthew Salesses (Craft in the Real World) and Felicia Rose Chavez’s The Anti-Racist Writing Workshop.
The goal is to empower the author to verbalize their creative choices and write into them, instead of editing their piece based on what someone tells them they “need” to change.
